Author Guidelines
1) Aims, Scope, and Article Types
Punggawa Community Engagement: Jurnal Pengabdian Masyarakat publishes manuscripts on community engagement/service activities, including community empowerment, participatory programs, applied innovations for community benefit, training and capacity-building, public service interventions, policy/community partnerships, and impact evaluation of engagement programs.
Accepted article types:

2) Language
Manuscripts may be written in Indonesian or English, but must follow the template formatting consistently.
3) Length, Page Setup, and File Type

Maximum length: 20 pages (A4).

Submit in MS Word (.doc/.docx) using the official template.
4) Manuscript Structure
A. Journal Header (Template Block)
The template contains the journal identity block (journal name, volume/issue/year, ISSN, Open Access link). Do not redesign or rearrange this block.
B. Article Citation Line
The template includes an example of how the article is cited (Author(s), year, journal name, volume/issue, ISSN). Keep the same formatting style.
C. Title
-
Title should be the fewest possible words that accurately describe the manuscript content.

Format: left-aligned, bold, sentence case, 14 pt.
D. Authors and Affiliations
-
Author names: 11 pt
-
Affiliations: 9 pt, numbered (1, 2, 3, …)
-
Provide Correspondence email for the corresponding author.
E. Article Info + Abstract
Include the Article Info block and Article history (Received/Revised/Accepted) as provided in the template (dates will be finalized during editorial processing).
Abstract requirements:
-
100–200 words
-
Must be informative and self-explanatory: state the problem, the approach/program design, and the main findings/outcomes
-
Written in past tense
-
Avoid abbreviations (unless widely standard)
-
No citations in the abstract
F. Keywords
-
Minimum 5 and maximum 6 keywords.
-
Format: separated by semicolon (;), left-aligned.
G. INTRODUCTION
Use the template heading style: INTRODUCTION (capital, bold, Times New Roman 11 pt).
The introduction must include:
-
background/context of the community problem,
-
objectives of the engagement program,
-
contribution/benefits, and
-
brief review of prior work followed by novelty/originality (preferably supported by journal references from the last 10 years).
Formatting rules:
-
Do not divide Introduction into sub-sections such as background/problem/objectives.
-
Begin each paragraph with one tab.
-
Citations are written as in-text (bodynote) consistent with the reference list; using Mendeley/Zotero/EndNote is recommended.
H. RESEARCH METHODS
Explain clearly:
-
type of program/research,
-
community/population/target group,
-
sample/participants/partners,
-
data collection and technical data analysis.
Multilevel numbering is allowed if needed.
I. RESULTS AND DISCUSSION
This section must present outcomes and scientific discussion:
-
findings must be supported by adequate data,
-
present processed/analysed data (not raw data),
-
discuss “what/how”, “why”, and “what else” (alignment/contradiction with previous studies).
Writing rule:
-
Avoid bullet lists; if listing is necessary, write it as descriptive paragraphs.
Style rules:
-
foreign terms must be italicized,
-
numbering for tables/figures must be continuous and each must have a title.
J. Tables
-
Table position: centered
-
Font: Times New Roman, 8–11
-
No vertical lines; minimize horizontal lines (show only the header line and the last line)
-
Create tables using Insert Table (not as images)
-
In-text referencing: use “Table 1 …” with capital T
If a table must continue to the next page:
-
repeat the header row,
-
keep the same table number,
-
replace the title with “Continuation”,
-
table titles do not end with a period.
K. Pictures / Figures
-
Use continuous numbering and captions: “Picture 1 …”
-
Place caption below the picture
-
Use professional-quality visuals; no unnecessary frames
-
Black-and-white images are recommended.
L. CONCLUSION
Conclusions must be concise, clear, and focused on the main outcomes/findings. Avoid splitting conclusions into many parts or bullet points.
M. REFERENCES

Use APA 7th edition
-
At least 15 references
-
80% must be primary sources (especially journal articles)
-
Prefer sources from the last 10 years
-
Use reference managers (Mendeley/Zotero/EndNote) for consistency
-
Do not split references into categories; keep one consolidated list.
Submission Preparation Checklist
All submissions must meet the following requirements.
- This submission meets the requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
- This submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration.
- All references have been checked for accuracy and completeness.
- All tables and figures have been numbered and labeled.
- Permission has been obtained to publish all photos, datasets and other material provided with this submission.
