Abstract

Employee engagement has become one of the strategic issues in human resource management because it is closely related to organizational productivity, commitment, innovation, and sustainability. Generation Z employees possess distinct work characteristics and expectations, particularly regarding work-life balance and career development opportunities. This study aims to analyze the influence of Work-Life Balance and Career Growth Opportunity on Employee Engagement among Generation Z employees. The research employed a quantitative approach using the Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) method. Data were collected through questionnaires distributed to 100 Generation Z employees in Makassar City. The findings indicate that Work-Life Balance has a positive and significant effect on Employee Engagement (β = 0.314; t = 3.988; p < 0.001). Likewise, Career Growth Opportunity positively and significantly influences Employee Engagement (β = 0.290; t = 3.349; p = 0.001). Although both variables significantly contribute to employee engagement, the coefficient of determination (R² = 0.178) indicates that additional factors beyond the proposed model also influence employee engagement. These findings highlight the importance of organizational policies that support work-life balance and career development to enhance Generation Z employees' engagement.
