Hermeneutic Analysis of Rational–Emotional Dialectics in FSTVLST’s “Doa Lamat-Lamat”
Main Article Content
Abstract
This study examined how rationality and emotionality are represented, how existential anxiety arises from their tension, and how that anxiety is reinterpreted spiritually in “Doa Lamat-Lamat” by FSTVLST (2026). A qualitative hermeneutic design was used, combining Gadamer’s dialogical understanding with Ricoeur’s self-understanding. The lyrics were analyzed through a naive reading, a structural analysis, and a comprehensive understanding, and the interpretation was compared with four listener comments from TikTok and with Dilthey’s hermeneutics. The analysis showed that the lyrics stage reason and feeling as a duel that neither side wins. This tension becomes anticipatory anxiety when it is projected onto actions not yet taken. The anxiety is then reinterpreted through reflection (muhasabah) and surrender (tawakkul), without being removed. Listener comments broadened the interpretation to include family burdens and gratitude amid unanswered prayers. The study concludes that the song can serve as a text for reflective learning in art education, although the findings are a plausible reading from one interpretive horizon and not a generalization.
